Rays of motion and rest

Each ray of light moves in the coordinate system "at rest" with the definite, constant velocity V, independent of whether this ray of light is emitted by a body at rest or body in motion.
- Albert Einstein

Are you at rest or in motion, Reader?

Winter hibernation is my thing, or at least that's the mindset I'm trying this year. Hibernation isn't all stillness. Physicists tell us that light travels in many ways. Sometimes the rays of energy are obvious. Other times, you need different approaches and equipment to measure them. Energetic rays travel, bringing new ideas and light sources. Hibernation encourages me to try a few ways to approach or measure those rays.

Here are four rays of sunshine surrounding Sippizine now:

  • Winter Writing Sessions are on the horizon: January 23 and February 8 in Marion and February 12 in New Bedford. Sign up for one or more!
  • Print copies of Sippizine are now available to pick up or to ship directly to you.
  • Submissions for Volume 3 opens on February 10 closes on March 8, 2024. With the theme, "Running," there are plenty of possibilities for your creative energies to contribute.
  • Local Cultural Councils in Marion and New Bedford will support Sippizine in 2024. Their confidence adds energy to our community culture journal. Thank you!

Do you have news to share about your creative journey? I'd love to hear about it. Just hit reply and send that energy to my in-box.

Or take a moment to rest and relish the creative frolic that is Sippizine.

Wishing you a peaceful moment,

Alanna

Dear Reader, A young couple received two blank journals with writing prompts as a baby gift this month. It's the first time I've given journals, but it may not be the last. Life with newborn is a time of change. I hope the journals offer a way for each of them to capture feelings and experiences that might otherwise slip into new parent fog. What were the prompts? What do/did you most admire about your parents? How can you bring those things into your own parenting? List the emotions you felt...
